● Party ideology is key to democracy.

The member representing Enugu South Rural Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obiajulu Princess Ugwu, has reiterated the need for state lawmakers to engage in robust and constructive bipartisan actions that will move the State forward. Hon. Obiajulu Ugwu made the call recently during her inauguration thanksgiving in Enugu. According to Hon. Ugwu, “The composition of the current State Assembly is unique with Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) competitively in charge of the House. Therefore, it is obvious to all parties that we can only move forward if we deliberately engage in bipartisan activities that will respect the wishes of our constituents and the ideologies of our various parties.”Hon. Princess Ugwu added that what is top on her agenda is to serve her constituents who gave a very tall mandate. Hon. added, “The people who elected me expect me to deliver on all my campaign promises, and I must deliver every single one. So I call on my colleagues in the House to remember that service to the people is more important than any political calculation in the House. I have come to serve my people and nothing more”.On party supremacy, Hon. Obiajulu Ugwu explained that the party is always supreme and must be respected. “I am a core Labour Party person any day. If you check my activism in the past, you will understand that it completely agrees with the tenets of my party”, she added.

Earlier in the Thanksgiving Service held at The Redemption Church Worldwide in Enugu, Hon Princess Ugwu appreciated God and her constituents.

According to her, “God remains first in this journey; I owe Him everything. I thank each and every one of you who participated in the democratic process and exercised your right to vote based on capacity, competence, credibility and compassion. I also want to appreciate my father, the late Elder Princewill Ugwu, and my loving mother, Deaconness Mercy Ugwu, for raising a daughter who has become useful to society. I celebrate Prof. Barth Nnaji, Prof. Joy Onyesoh and a host of other stakeholders of our great party for their immense contribution. To my loving siblings and children, Excel, Prosper, Divine, and Awesome, mummy loves you! Thank you for always supporting and understanding. Let me respectfully appreciate His Excellency, Hon. Barr. Chijioke Edeoga for his commitment. Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu (MHR), my campaign DG, Mr Chudi Charles, and leaders of our great Party at all levels, thank you all. I also want to appreciate my inauguration Committee for the good job they have done. Permit me also to appreciate His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Women Support Women, Iyom Ladies, NILOWV, Adorable Pearls, Soul Sisters, and everyone who contributed to this milestone. Your overwhelming support has propelled me to take this position of responsibility. I assure you that I will work tirelessly to fulfil the promises I made during my campaign and address the needs and aspirations of our beloved constituency”.
