In a recent interview with BBC Igbo, prominent businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, disclosed that he was compelled to relocate his business to Lagos State due to the prevailing insecurity in the Southeast region.
He expressed his dismay at how the pervasive fear of kidnapping and violence has led to a significant decline in customer patronage in the East, where he previously operated successfully.
He said:
“There is widespread hunger in the South-East. It is our own community members who provide criminals with information.
“Our people began targeting the wealthy, so the wealthy stopped returning home during festivities. That’s why I moved to Lagos to conduct my business.”
