Popular Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, also known as Kcee, recently shared in an episode of the Afrobeats Podcast that he initially began his career as a disc jockey.
Kcee revealed that both he and his brother, Emeka Okonkwo (known as E-Money), who is the co-founder of Five Star Music, started off as DJs before transitioning into their current roles in the music industry.
Kcee mentioned that his father was also involved in the music business as a DJ and a record seller, and he grew up surrounded by music, even selling old-school artists’ records when he was just a young child.
“When I was in secondary school, I was already handling a full record store and playing at parties. I and E-Money were DJs. So, I listened to a lot of artists.”
