Ilebaye Odiniya, the winner of Big Brother Naija All Stars, has clarified that her recent social media post was not intended to solicit funds, but rather to protect her fans from falling victim to scammers.
Comments made on her X handle on Monday morning stated, “We have been made aware of fans planning to send gifts or donations. Please avoid sending money to any account that is not officially posted on Ilebaye’s verified accounts. For gifts, please send an email. The only authorized account is the Baye Tribe account (9608176782 – Providus). We will not be held responsible for any misappropriation of funds. Thank you.”
Ilebaye’s team responded by saying that the social media post was not created to request funds. They emphasized that they only provided information about the verified account they have access to.
In reference to the original tweet, her handlers stated, “The purpose of this particular tweet was to safeguard fans so that their donations or gifts are not taken by fraudsters.”
“Too many fake account numbers are circulating and we will not be held accountable for any misappropriation.”
