Imo LG Polls: Two Women Emerge Victorious as Chairpersons

In the recently concluded Imo State local council elections, two female candidates, Nkechi Mbonu and Chika Ibekwe, made history by winning the chairmanship seats for Okigwe LGA and Ngor-Okpala LGA, respectively. Additionally, 14 women emerged as vice chairpersons in various local government areas.

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) presented certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen across the 27 local government councils. Charles Ejiogu, ISIEC Chairman, praised the peaceful conduct of the elections, thanking the electorate, Governor Hope Uzodinma, security agencies, and participating political parties for their support.

Nkechi Mbonu, chairman-elect for Okigwe LGA, expressed gratitude to the people of Okigwe and pledged to drive development through innovative policies.
