The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that Sen. Samuel Anyanwu’s position as the National Secretary is not in jeopardy. This clarification comes in response to misleading claims circulating on social media, suggesting that he and Acting National Chairman Amb. Iliya Damagum have been suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC).
Lancelot Obiaku, the State Publicity Secretary, condemned these rumors as unfounded and highlighted that a Federal High Court ruling from January 9 affirmed Anyanwu’s validity as National Secretary until December 9, 2025. The court’s decision aligns with the party’s constitution, which states that any changes to the office must occur during the national convention.
Obiaku further indicated that these unfounded claims reportedly originated from Hon. Debo Ologunagba and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade after their suspension for insubordination by the NWC. The party maintains that all members must adhere to its constitution and has established a disciplinary committee to address the misconduct of Ologunagba and Ajibade.
The PDP emphasizes its commitment to upholding order and discipline within the party, rejecting any form of unruliness among its members.
