Imo State residents are facing an electricity crisis as the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) grapples with a loss of power supply, all due to an ongoing industrial action by the organized labor union in the state.
The EEDC, in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, and sent to newsmen on Friday, explained that the organized labor union’s strike has forced the shutdown of the Egbu Transmission Station, which serves as a primary source of electricity for the region.
He described the industrial action as an unfortunate development that has left the entire Imo State without electricity.
Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, reassured the public that the company is fully prepared to restore power supply promptly once the labor union calls off their industrial action.
According to him, “EEDC remains committed to enhancing its operational processes and ensuring improved services for its valued customers.”
Imo State residents eagerly await the resolution of the labor dispute, hoping to see their lights back on in the near future. In the meantime, the state remains in the dark, with its electricity supply held hostage by the ongoing industrial action.
Reports have it that customers of EEDC in Imo State have been enduring the inconveniences resulting from this unexpected power outage.
However, the company has acknowledged the hardships faced by its esteemed customers and expressed its hope that a resolution to the ongoing industrial action is imminent.
