The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that 125,928 out of the 184,438 newly printed Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in Edo State have been collected ahead of the September 21 governorship election.
This represents a collection rate of 68.3%, the highest recorded by INEC since the introduction of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) for off-cycle governorship elections in 2015. The collection was carried out across all 192 wards in the state between August 22 and August 26, and the PVCs were carefully packaged by Poling Units, Wards, and Local Government Areas (LGAs).
A detailed breakdown of the collection by LGAs has been uploaded to INEC’s website and social media platforms for public information. The collection will continue in all INEC offices in the 18 LGAs from Wednesday until September 8.
INEC is urging voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to pick them up themselves and not through proxies, and the locations of the INEC LGAs offices are readily available on the commission’s website.
