Just in: Osinbajo presides over special FEC meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently presiding over a special session of the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.

Monday’s unusual meeting is to allow the retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari-led regime to consider all pending memoranda from Ministries, Departments and Agencies before the regime winds down in exactly two weeks.

The marathon meeting which began around 11:00 am is expected to consider at least 37 memos.

Sources told newsflash.ng correspondent that more special FEC meetings will be held within the remaining two weeks of the regime.


Present are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno.

Also present are the Ministers of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; Science and Technology, Olorunimbe Mamora; Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo; Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire; Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami; Sports, Sunday Dare, Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi; Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; FCT, Mohammed Bello, Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen; Education, Adamu Adamu; Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management, Sadiya Farouk, Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi and Niger Delta, Umana Umana.

The Ministers of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum; Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada; Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, Education State, Goodluck Opiah, are also present.

Meanwhile, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is expected back in the country early this week after an extended trip to the UK.

Buhari, who initially visited the UK on May 3 to witness the coronation of the British Monarch King Charles III later extended his stay in London by a week to undergo a dental procedure.
