In a bold statement as Nigeria approaches the 2027 presidential election, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the party’s presidential candidate in 2023, expressed confidence that the NNPP will emerge victorious against its rivals. He argued that the party’s success is assured provided that the electoral process is conducted fairly.
During the NNPP’s 8th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Bolingo Hotel in Abuja, Kwankwaso criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for exacerbating poverty and insecurity in the nation.
He highlighted the severe challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly noting the significant rise in poverty, insecurity, and deteriorating infrastructure, especially in northern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso urged citizens to reflect on their struggles and consider giving the NNPP an opportunity to govern, stating, “If we have a free and fair election in this country, the NNPP will defeat the APC, PDP, and other parties.”
While acknowledging internal issues within the NNPP, he dismissed claims made by some expelled members as mere distractions and reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to bolster Nigeria’s democracy.
He called on party leaders at all levels to unite and increase their efforts to secure victory in the 2027 elections, asserting, “We will do everything necessary for the success of our party.”
