Kwankwaso Criticizes Northern Elders for Influencing Presidential Candidate Selection

Published on

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has voiced his discontent regarding the actions of a handful of individuals who purport to be representatives of Northern leaders, particularly in the presidential candidate selection process.

He accused these individuals of causing fragmentation among the populace, undermining democracy, and contributing to the election of inadequately qualified leaders.

In a recent interview with BBC Hausa Service, Kwankwaso urged these self-appointed leaders to learn from past electoral lessons and refrain from imposing their preferences on the candidate selection process.

He specifically highlighted the need for Northern elders, especially those from the Northwest, to avoid showing favoritism.

Kwankwaso also addressed previous speculations surrounding an alleged agreement with former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi about a shared term arrangement, dismissing such rumors.
