Kwara LG Elections: Saraki Slams Illegitimate Chairmen, Councillors

Published on

Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has condemned the outcome of the local government elections in Kwara State, stating that the chairmen and councillors lack legitimacy and the people’s mandate.

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of all 16 chairmanship positions and 193 councillorship seats. However, Saraki argued that the people sent a clear signal to the state government, expressing dissatisfaction with its performance after 64 months in office.

Saraki praised the people for standing firm against the electoral body’s poor preparations and absence of officials at polling units. He emphasized that the declared results do not reflect the people’s will.
