Lagos State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has criticized emerging artist Ayo Maff for the explicit content in his latest song, “Last Week.”
The song’s opening verse describes the singer’s use of Canadian Loud, a potent synthetic cannabis strain, on the first day of the week, followed by a boast about running out of the substance by Saturday.
He emphasized the link between drug abuse and criminal behavior, stating that many young people in prison could have avoided their circumstances if they hadn’t engaged in drug use.
SP Hundeyin highlighted the dangers of illicit drug consumption, noting that it often serves as a precursor to criminal activity.
The PPRO wrote,
“He does what on Mondays and Saturdays? Help me listen.
“Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…
“Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad.
“Eni a wi fun…”
