Nigerian Air Force Strikes Down IPOB Camps and Terrorist Hideouts in Simultaneous Airstrikes

Published on

The Nigerian Air Force has announced the successful destruction of “several camps” belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-East and “terrorist enclaves” in the North-East through “meticulously planned air raids.”

These operations, carried out on August 11 by distinct units of NAF personnel attached to Operations Delta Safe and Hadin Kai, produced “highly favorable outcomes.”

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF spokesperson, revealed that intelligence had uncovered IPOB’s intentions to attack residents in Anambra. Swift action followed as a fighter jet zeroed in on the camp located in Orsumoghu, Ihiala LGA of Anambra State. The resulting aerial attack “tactically thwarted the imminent danger.”

In the North-East, the air raid yielded visual evidence indicating the effective neutralization of “a significant number of terrorists” and the destruction of “essential structures.”

On the same day, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai executed similar airstrikes, targeting a location about 1.5 km east of Arra. This site, cleared of terrorist activities six months earlier, had drawn terrorists who had fled areas around Lake Chad due to “relentless NAF aircraft bombardment.” The subsequent strike aimed to “dismantle the terrorists’ ability to regroup and launch attacks.”

Visual evidence post-airstrike confirmed the operation’s success, with terrorists neutralized and structures “razed to the ground.” Surviving terrorists were seen “dispersing in disarray,” substantially diminishing their capacity to target both friendly forces and innocent civilians.

In the Niger Delta Region, a part of Operation Delta Safe, NAF aircraft executed targeted airstrikes against “illicit oil refining activities.” On August 11, 2023, these interdiction missions were meticulously conducted at an unauthorized refining site adjacent to Bille, a coastal town within Rivers State’s Degema Local Government Area. The primary aim was to “counter the detrimental actions of oil thieves and curb their illicit operations.”
