Nollywood actress and renowned body positivity advocate, Monalisa Stephen, has passed away.
She died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos due to complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
The news of her passing was confirmed by her younger sister and publicly announced on Wednesday by Seun Oloketuyi, the Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON).
In a statement on his official Instagram page, Oloketuyi wrote: “Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after a battle with low sugar and internal bleeding.
Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul.”
Monalisa Stephen gained fame not only through her performances in Nollywood films but also through her outspoken advocacy for body positivity, mental health, and self-love.
