The funeral of Nollywood legend Amaechi Muonagor took place on Friday in his hometown of Obosi, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, amidst an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and the Nollywood community.
Dignitaries in attendance included Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Anambra State’s Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment, Dom Onyenji.
In his condolence speech, Obi paid tribute to the late actor, urging the bereaved family to find strength in their sorrow. Onyenji acknowledged the significant loss to Nollywood, praising Muonagor’s creative contributions and mentorship in the industry.
Emeka Ejezie, National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), sent a condolence message, extolling Muonagor’s greatness and urging the family to find solace in their loss.
Steve Eboh, a veteran actor, represented Ejezie at the funeral. Mrs. Chinyere Anyaegbunam, AGN state chairman, eulogized Muonagor as a beloved father figure in the industry, who mentored many and left an indelible mark on Nollywood.
The Anambra State government, through Onyenji, assured the Nollywood community of their support during this difficult time.
