Wumi Toriola, a prominent actress in Nollywood, has officially broken Toyin Abraham’s box office record with her latest film, ‘Queen Lateefah.’
This milestone follows her recent recognition as the 2024 box office champion awarded by the Federal Government through the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
Since its debut in September, ‘Queen Lateefah’ has garnered a remarkable N350 million within just two months, exceeding the N302 million achieved by Abraham’s movie, ‘Malaika.’
Toriola’s achievement has positioned ‘Queen Lateefah’ among the top seven highest-grossing films in Nigerian cinema history, with the potential to rival previous records set by Funke Akindele’s acclaimed works such as ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ and ‘Battle On Buka Street.’
Expressing her excitement on Instagram, Toriola stated, “No 7, Queen Lateefah is still waxing strong and shining bright! Grossing 350M and 7th Highest Grossing Nollywood Title of All Time. Big thank you to everyone.”
