NPFL Stars Eager for Super Eagles Call-Ups Ahead of CHAN 2024 Qualifiers

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) stars are eagerly anticipating potential call-ups to the Super Eagles B squad as discussions continue regarding the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) qualifiers. The tournament, which features African players based in their home countries, is set to take place from February 1 to 25, 2025.

Despite the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) not yet confirming the country’s participation and the absence of a substantive coach for the Super Eagles B, players are hopeful about representing their nation. Junior Nduka, captain of Remo Stars, expressed his excitement about the possibility of being called up, stating, “I will be glad if I make the list to represent our country, and it’s not just about being on the list but to represent the country well with my all.

Similarly, Joseph Atule, a forward for Enyimba FC, shared his enthusiasm, saying that the announcement has motivated him to work harder in hopes of being selected. The news boosts my morale to keep working very hard to be among the players that will be selected for the CHAN Eagles, he remarked. Azeez Falolu, a midfielder with Katsina United, also highlighted the opportunity as significant, noting, “It will be an honour to be among the players for that assignment. The last time Nigeria participated in CHAN was in 2018 when they reached the finals but lost to Morocco.

As the NFF prepares for the qualifiers, this anticipation reflects the depth of talent within Nigerian football. With several NPFL stars vying for spots on the national team, there is a strong sense of competition and commitment among players eager to don their national colors.

The upcoming qualifiers present an opportunity not only for individual players but also for Nigeria to re-establish its presence in African football after missing out on previous editions of the tournament. As discussions progress, fans and stakeholders alike are hopeful for a successful campaign ahead.
