Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, declared on Saturday that the individuals who fabricated election results and circulated them on social media during the governorship election are the same ones now alleging rigging.
He made this statement at the Esan Central Local Government Council Secretariat, during a reception celebrating his electoral victory by the Esan community.
While expressing gratitude to the people of Edo for electing him, Okpebholo remarked that those who lost the election will continue to cry foul because their strategies to manipulate the outcome were unsuccessful.
He stated, “I appreciate our party leadership, especially President Bola Tinubu, for upholding Justice and ensuring equity, which contributed to our party’s success.
“The individuals who created fake results and shared them online are now the same ones lamenting about election rigging.
“It’s unfortunate that those who attempted to deceive are now expressing grief over their loss and will keep on doing so while their efforts yield no results.
“The people of Edo have made their choice for development, peace, and unity, and that decision will endure.
“I am grateful to the Esan community for their unwavering support, which ensured my significant victory. Thank you for your confidence and your votes. This turnout demonstrates that you supported me.
“I assure the people of Edo and the Esan community that I will not let them down; I will prioritize doing what is right and uphold justice.
“I extend my gratitude to the traditional leaders, Esan community leaders, party members, and everyone who contributed to my becoming the governor, and above all, I give thanks to God.”
