Olayinka Urges Atiku to Support Peter Obi for 2027 Presidential Bid

Published on

A media aide to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, Lere Olayinka, has proposed that Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should consider supporting Peter Obi for the presidency in the 2027 elections.

Olayinka’s remarks came in response to an X user, Mfaarees, who suggested that Obi should accept a Vice Presidential position under Atiku to effectively combat the tyranny in Nigeria. Olayinka emphasized that both Obi and Atiku possess the capability to rally against oppressive forces in the country.

In his tweet, Olayinka questioned why Atiku couldn’t demonstrate similar sacrifice by backing Obi for the presidency. This statement emerges amidst ongoing merger discussions among key opposition figures in Nigeria. However, Katchi Ononuju, a prominent member of the PDP, has already asserted that Obi will not accept a Vice Presidential role with Atiku.
