Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, has thanked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for “handing over” Nyesom Wike to the Tinubu-led administration.
Oshiomhole commended the PDP for Wike’s impactful tenure and acknowledged his appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike, previously a prominent member of the PDP, shifted allegiance to the APC during the 2023 presidential elections, resulting in his ministerial role as a reward for his support for Bola Tinubu.
Oshiomhole drew a metaphor from football, comparing the situation to a top player being transferred to a rival club.
During a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole said, “Thank you to PDP for allowing Nyesom Wike to assist us in transforming Abuja. While I don’t belong to any football club, I often hear fans speak of major teams.”
He humorously mentioned how the PDP’s decision not to demand a transfer fee for Wike was appreciated, highlighting Wike’s contributions towards the rule of law and environmental regulations in Abuja.
