The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a warning to Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging him to tread carefully in his attempts to win over party leaders. The Osun PDP emphasized the importance of understanding the political history of the Southwest to avoid making inflammatory public remarks.
This caution follows Ganduje’s recent claims at a political event in Ondo State, where he asserted that the APC would employ all necessary measures to dominate the Southwest region. The party condemned his statements as reckless and potentially incendiary, warning that they could destabilize the already strained political landscape of Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi, the party reiterated that the citizens of Osun will determine their governor in the upcoming 2026 election. Bisi criticized Ganduje for his failure to govern effectively in his home state of Kano, suggesting that his threats are misguided and could lead to significant political unrest in the Southwest.
He referenced the recent electoral backlash the APC faced in Osun, attributing it to the violent tactics employed during the past elections. The Osun PDP remains resolute in its stance, promising that a similar response awaits the APC in future elections.
