Ondo State’s branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of financially bribing residents to refrain from participating in the ongoing nationwide EndBadGovernance protest.
The PDP claims that the governor met with students’ leaders and religious leaders in order to suppress the voices of the people amidst economic hardships.
The opposition party believes that the residents should be actively opposing the alleged mismanagement of the state. They also claim that Governor Aiyedatiwa has not accounted for the N5 billion in palliatives that were released by the Federal Government, and that the monthly allocation of funds from the Federation Account has had no positive impact on the state.
In response to these allegations, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state supports the peaceful approach taken by the people and claims that the PDP is disappointed in their lack of success in stirring up unrest in Ondo State.
The APC urges the PDP to respect the choices made by individuals and groups in the state.
