A faction within the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended National Chairman Umar Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, alongside two other top officials, citing allegations of anti-party activities.
The decision was announced by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, following a recent meeting.
The NWC has appointed Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, to lead an investigative committee into the suspensions.
The move comes after concerns were raised about actions taken by Damagum and Anyanwu in relation to a court case involving former PDP members who joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The NWC condemned these actions as violations of party rules and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further proceedings.
