PDP Governors Intensify Control Amidst Deepening Internal Crisis.

Published on

The rift within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened as governors attempt to strengthen their influence over the party.

This move comes as they challenge the authority of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in party matters.

Led by Governor Bala Mohammed, the 12-member PDP Governors Forum (PDP-GF) concluded their monthly meeting in Asaba, Delta State, with a clear stance directed at the pro-Wike faction of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum.

After the meeting, Mohammed announced that the Forum supports a recent Court of Appeal judgment on the National Secretary position.

They urged the NWC to facilitate the implementation of this ruling and proposed postponing the crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from February to March 13.

This delay aims to allow Hon. Ude-Okoye to sign essential documents notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the new date.
