PDP Rejects Ondo Gubernatorial Election Results, Plans Legal Challenge Against APC Victory

Published on

In a strong response to the recent gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to contest the results that declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa the victor with a total of 366,781 votes, surpassing PDP candidate Ajayi Agboola, who received 117,845 votes.

In a statement released by Ayo Fadaka, special adviser to Agboola, the PDP condemned the election outcome, alleging various actions aimed at undermining the will of the electorate.

The party contended that the environment surrounding the election was marred by criminal activities, compromising the integrity of the electoral process and detracting from the role of INEC, which is responsible for safeguarding democratic rights.

The PDP indicated that legal action is their only recourse to reclaim what they refer to as an unlawfully obtained mandate, expressing hope for justice through both legal avenues and divine intervention.
