Afrobeat artist, Seun Kuti, has criticized individuals who have voiced their disapproval towards the father of the late Nigerian musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, for the swift burial of his son.
According to DAILY POST, Mohbad, who passed away on September 12 under controversial circumstances, was laid to rest the following day on September 13, 2023.
The hurried burial of Mohbad has generated backlash from many of his fans, who have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media. They believe that the singer’s father did not make proper arrangements or conduct thorough investigations before laying him to rest.
Seun Kuti, during an interview on Nedu’s Thehonestbunch podcast, responded to the criticism surrounding Mohbad’s burial. He suggested that the condemnation directed towards the deceased’s father stems from his lack of financial means.“Poverty is playing a big role in this whole Mohbad issue.
People are saying Mohbad’s father killed him because he buried him early. Who will be looking at his son’s dead body for two to three days?”
He said.Speaking in Pidgin, Kuti asked, “If na Otedola pikin die and he bury am overnight, wetin anybody go talk here? No be sey una go dey give am condolences visit for house?
“Instead of us to be consoling the man, we are making him evil that can kill his son. Somebody that just lost his child. You like the boy pass am na hin dem dey bully the boy all these days and you no talk anything.”
