On the global observance of International Youth Day, Comr Bartholomew Ebuka Okoh, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Enugu, conveyed a compelling message that resonated with the youth community. Against the backdrop of the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” Okoh championed the significance of youth engagement and development.

With an unwavering belief in the potential of the youth, Okoh began by asserting, “As the world celebrates International Youth Day today, we acknowledge the youth as the bedrock and foundation of every society.” He underscored that the path to meaningful societal progress and sustainable development rested upon nurturing the talents and abilities of the young generation. In this light, he stressed that nations aspiring for rapid growth must dedicate themselves to uplifting the welfare and education of their youth.

Beyond this, Okoh called for a transformative approach to youth integration into governance. He encouraged governments to actively endorse and support the participation of young individuals in positions of trust. According to him, this approach was essential in preparing the youth to take on leadership roles in the near future, preventing a potential leadership void.

“To gain the trust and confidence of both current leaders and the masses, we, as youths, must embrace virtues over vices,” Okoh stated. He emphasized the importance of cultivating positive qualities that would not only foster trust but also pave the way for effective collaboration between youth and existing leaders.

Representing the leadership of NYCN Enugu State chapter, Okoh extended hearty felicitations to the youth of Ndi Enugu. He encouraged them to delve into the essence of this year’s theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” and to actively engage in initiatives that contribute to a prosperous and enduring future.

Comr Bartholomew Ebuka Okoh’s message echoed as a clarion call for Enugu State youth to step into their roles as catalysts for change, embracing sustainable development, and actively participating in the shaping of a better tomorrow.
