“Prison experience shifted my perspective on freedom”– Omah Lay reveals

Afrobeats artist Omah Lay reflected on his 2020 prison experience in Uganda, where he and Tems were arrested and detained for three days for performing at a concert that violated COVID-19 protocols.

In an interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay shared how the ordeal profoundly impacted his life and career, making him cherish freedom more.

He revealed that the experience changed his perspective, and as a result, he now expresses his appreciation for freedom in his music.

He said;

“After being in that cell for three days, I just love my freedom so much now that I fight for it with every record… I don’t want to give Uganda so much credit for locking me up, but that shifted my perspective about freedom”.
