Real Madrid secured a 3-2 victory over Manchester City in a thrilling first leg of their Champions League play-off tie at the Etihad Stadium.

Jude Bellingham’s stoppage-time winner sealed the victory after Real Madrid twice came from behind.

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with Erling Haaland scoring twice for Manchester City.

However, Real Madrid responded through Kylian Mbappe, Brahim Diaz, and ultimately, Bellingham.

“I don’t know how to put it into words straight away; it’s so raw and frustrating for everyone,” City defender John Stones said. “We were in the game until so late, and then it’s two situations that happen, and we concede.

It’s frustrating as a defender to come away with that result. Real Madrid’s Vinícent Júnior claimed he was motivated by a banner from Manchester City fans that mocked his Ballon d’Or finish.

In other Champions League action, Borussia Dortmund dominated Sporting Lisbon with a 3-0 victory in their play-off round tie.
