There are fears that a police officer and a member of the Omuma Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) have been killed in Omuma Local Government Area, Rivers State.

This comes as tension and protests spread across all 23 local government areas in the state due to the expiration of the three-year tenure of the elected Chairmen of LGAs and ward councillors. Reports have surfaced of alleged security personnel firing shots at the Port Harcourt City LGA Council Secretariat.

There have been shootings in Obio/Akpor, Emohua, Eleme, and Khana LGAs by unidentified individuals.

However, it has now been reported that two individuals have been killed in Omuma LGA as a result of the shootings that occurred in the area.

According to a source, the incident began when police officers attached to a local politician shot members of the vigilante group involved in a clash at the Omuma council secretariat.

In retaliation, the victim’s team confronted the security personnel. The police authorities in the state have not yet confirmed these events, but a police source in Omuma has stated that two people were shot.
