Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has expressed his disdain for being referred to as a “legend” in the industry.
On a podcast, RMD described the title as a “scam” and instead named actors Pete Edochie and Olu Jacobs as true legends.RMD stated that being called a legend makes him feel like he’s being relegated to the neighborhood of retired people or those nearing retirement.
The 63-year-old actor, who began his career in 1982, believes that such a title undermines his current contributions to the industry.
RMD’s comments have sparked reactions, with many industry stakeholders and fans weighing in on the debate surrounding the “legend” title in Nollywood.
