Augustine Obiabo Amedu, a Nigerian musician who goes by the stage name Blackface, has made allegations against his fellow artist, Shallipopi, accusing him of stealing his intellectual property.
Blackface, a former member of the music group Plantashun Boiz, claims that Shallipopi used a sample from his song ‘Enemy Plan’ in Shallipopi’s recent debut album ‘Shakepopi’ without obtaining the necessary permissions.
In a video posted on his Instagram account this past Sunday, Blackface questioned why Nigerian musicians seem unable to create music without emulating his style or melody.
He wrote in pidgin,
“Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project.”
