Shehu Sani Criticizes NPC’s ₦942 Billion Census Budget as “Complete Madness”

Published on

Former Senator of Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has condemned the National Population Commission (NPC) for its proposal of nearly ₦1 trillion to carry out a national census, labeling it as “complete madness.”

The NPC had requested a budget of ₦942 billion for this year’s housing and population census.

However, sources suggest that President Bola Tinubu has declined this request and is considering utilizing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members for the operation.

In response to the developments, Shehu Sani commended Tinubu’s stance, expressing on social media platform X: “The National Population Commission’s demand for almost ₦1 trillion just to tally the number of Nigerians is sheer madness. The rejection of their budget request is commendable.”
