Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has called on the Northern region to stand by President Bola Tinubu’s administration and not leave it in the hands of those who did not vote for him.
His appeal comes in light of opposition from the North regarding Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills currently before the National Assembly. Critics argue that these bills disproportionately affect the northern region and could place an additional burden on Nigerians.
Sani questioned why the North should rely on external support, stressing that the region has a critical role in the current administration that they helped elect. He criticized the notion of opposing a government the North supported, stating, “You shouldn’t abandon this government to those who didn’t vote for it.”
He further pointed out that key government positions are held by appointees from the North and encouraged the region to focus on constructive discussions about pressing issues.
