In a recent episode of the ‘Listen’ podcast, Nigerian artist Skales openly expressed his belief that fellow musician and former record label mate, Wizkid, has always harbored negative feelings towards him.
Recalling a past social media disagreement, Skales reflected on the “repelling energy” he perceives from the ‘Starboy’ singer.
He recounted an incident where, during a Twitter Q&A session, a fan inquired about Wizkid, to which Skales jokingly responded that Wizkid had moved on and no longer had time for him. This comment led to a barrage of insults from Wizkid, directed at not just Skales but also his family.
Skales stated, “That’s to show you that he probably had me in mind,” referencing Wizkid’s remarks about his jewelry being fake, which were actually addressed by his ex-girlfriend at the time.
Acknowledging the rumors that suggested he was envious of Wizkid’s success, Skales admitted to avoiding direct confrontation, asserting, “I pick my battles.”
He continued, “I sat down recently and said, ‘This guy [Wizkid] really doesn’t like me.’ I have tried to make peace with him, but he was adamant. He didn’t like me; I can tell you for a fact.”
This candid revelation sheds light on the complexities of their relationship in the competitive music industry.
