Super Eagles Hopeful Tolu Arokodare Breaks Personal Scoring Record in Genk’s 1-1 Draw Against Charleroi

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has made history by breaking his personal record for most goals in a single league season. Arokodare scored his 16th goal in the Jupiler Pro League during Racing Genk’s 1-1 draw against Sporting Charleroi on Friday night.

Arokodare’s previous best was 15 goals, achieved in the 2020 season while playing for Latvian side Valmiera.

He equalized his record against Standard Liege on February 14 and surpassed it with his goal against Charleroi.

The strike not only cemented his status as the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League but also highlighted his impressive form this season.

In the match, Arokodare broke the deadlock with twenty minutes remaining, heading the ball into the net after a cross from Jarne Steuckers.

However, Racing Genk were denied all three points as Daan Heymans equalized from the spot in the 90th minute.

Arokodare’s performance has been pivotal for Genk, with the team now ten points behind league leaders. His overall tally for the season includes 18 goals and seven assists in all competitions, marking a career-high for the 24-year-old striker.

This achievement positions Arokodare as a strong contender for a spot in the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, as he continues to impress with his goal-scoring prowess.
