The Benue Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, along with three other party members, over allegations of anti-party activities.

The decision to sack Chief Ortom and suspend the others was made during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP in Makurdi. The suspended individuals include the state Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Mr Isaac Mffor, and the state Publicity Secretary, Mr Bemgba Iortyom.

This move was announced in a statement on Monday by the PDP’s Media Consultant, Cornelius Hwande. According to Hwande, Ortom was suspended due to his support of the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 election and his call for Benue PDP members to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Presidential election.

The party also suspended the PDP’s Vice Chairman of Zone A, Azua Ashongo, for gross insubordination and indiscipline.

Mffor and Iortyom were suspended for their involvement in the theft of Congress materials intended for the conduct of ward congresses in the Buruku and Ushongo local government areas.
