In recent statements, the Maverick musician Charles Oputa, also referred to as Charly Boy, has alleged that the administration headed by President Bola Tinubu is reportedly considering the arrest of Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), due to his relentless criticism of the current government.
Charly Boy has issued a warning, emphasizing that any efforts to detain or press charges against Obi would be fiercely opposed and could provoke unprecedented resistance in Nigeria’s history.
He has called on the Federal Government to exercise caution in their actions to avoid inciting chaos through what he deems as an unlawful arrest of Obi.
He wrote:
“There’s a report of an attempt of arrest on Peter Obi, by Tinubu’s Government over Peter Obi’s consistent refusal to back down on calling Tinubu out towards good governance and accountability.
“Any arrest or charges against Obi must be met with a resistance as never seen in the history of Nigeria before, and the Obidients are ready for it. Tinubu’s government must tread with caution not to set this nation on fire with an illegal arrest of HE Peter Obi. We call on Tinubu’s government to desist from her evil plans against Peter Obi because Nigeria will not remain the same.”
