Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage has finally spoken out about her divorce from her ex-husband, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TeeBillz, revealing that he was the one who announced their split on social media in 2018.
According to Tiwa Savage, she was still struggling with postpartum depression and adjusting to her new body after giving birth to their son when TeeBillz made the announcement, leaving her to face public scrutiny and blame.
In an interview with The Receipts Podcast, Tiwa Savage explained that she was devastated by the public’s reaction, which blamed her for the split and expected her to keep quiet and “build the house” as a woman.
She stated that the experience was heartbreaking and led to her feeling depressed and angry for a long time, but ultimately inspired her to take control of her image and become the “African Bad Girl” persona she is known for today.
