Ugbawka President Generals Condemn Murder of Hon. Osita Okoye, Commend Governor Mbah’s Efforts in Apprehending Perpetrators

The President Generals in Ugbawka community, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, have condemned in totality the gruesome murder of one of their own, Hon. Osita Okoye, the President General of Amafor-Ugbawka Autonomous Community.

Late Hon. Okoye and two others were murdered in cold blood by gunmen on Sunday, October 6th, during their monthly town union meeting.

Reacting to the ugly incident on Tuesday, through a statement signed by the coordinating President General of all the President Generals in Ugbawka, Chief(Sir) Osita Godwin Ogbu Nwonovo, he described the incident as deeply shocking and utterly reprehensible.

The statement commended the swift action of security personnel in Ụgbawka, praising their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the killings.

Special mention was made of Chief Alphonsus Chukwu, Chairman of Security in Nkanu East, for his leadership in addressing the security concerns.

It also recognized the contributions of the Area Commander of Nkanu East and the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, for their support in working with the security agencies to restore calm and ensure justice is served. The leaders urged the community to cooperate fully with ongoing investigations.

The statement also appreciated the efforts of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State, noting his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state. The President Generals reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining peace and fostering development in Ugbawka, despite the tragic event.

It is with great sadness that we condemn the brutal murder of Hon. Osita Okoye,The president General of Amafor – Ugbawka ; who, along with two others, was shot dead during a town union meeting in Ụgbawka on Sunday, October 6th, 2024. This heinous act of violence is deeply shocking and goes against the values of peace and unity we hold dear in our community. We stand firm in denouncing such evil actions, and we mourn the loss of a brave and committed leader.

We want to commend the security officers in Ụgbawka for their swift response in addressing the situation and working to bring the culprits to justice. Their relentless efforts are deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for their courage and dedication in these challenging times. Special recognition goes to Chief Alphonsus Chukwu, Chairman of Security in Nkanu East, whose leadership has been instrumental in addressing this incident.

We also commend the Area Commander of Nkanu East and the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon. Sydney Edeh, for their support and collaboration with security forces to ensure that those responsible for this senseless crime are found. Hon. Osita Okoye will be remembered as a hero who always put the needs of Ụgbawka first. His passing is a huge loss, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

We call on the people of Ụgbawka to remain calm and cooperative as the security agencies continue their investigation.
