Davido, the popular Afrobeats singer, has explained why he’s so invested in the Edo State governorship election currently underway.
Despite not being from Edo State, Davido revealed that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was an Edo State indigene, making this election personal for him .
However, he also emphasized that as a Nigerian, he should be concerned about the election’s credibility.
Davido has been vocal about alleged malpractices by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and has called them out on social media. He recalled his similar experience during the Osun State gubernatorial election, where his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, was contesting.
The singer had previously endorsed the PDP candidate, Asuen Ighodalo, for the Edo gubernatorial election. Meanwhile, reports indicate that passengers were stranded along the Agbor-Igueben-Uromi expressway due to a roadblock mounted by the Nigerian Army.
