Wike Claims Peter Obi’s Team is Targeting Him After Refusal to Support Their Candidacy.

A former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has accused Peter Obi’s faction of plotting against him because he opted not to endorse Obi during the 2023 general elections.

In a statement made in Port Harcourt, Wike revealed that he was heavily courted by Obi’s team before the elections but declined their overtures, convinced that Obi would not succeed.

He stated, “Peter Obi’s camp pursued me vigorously. They can’t deny it. I told them, ‘This choice won’t succeed.’ I wouldn’t waste Rivers State’s votes on a candidate I believed would not win.”

Wike asserted that there is a conspiracy against him, saying, “Enough is enough. They want to retaliate.” He also mentioned the political turbulence surrounding the 2023 elections, including claims of widespread vote rigging and manipulation of vote counts benefiting Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Both Tinubu and other candidates, including Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi, reportedly secured 12 states each, with Tinubu ultimately being declared the election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
