The African Radio Drama Association (ARDA) recently trained journalists in Ekiti state on equal reportage of women’s participation in politics.
The training, supported by UN Women and the Canadian government, aimed to promote women’s leadership and governance in Nigeria.
Adebisi, a Media and Development Communications Professional, emphasized the importance of changing the narrative around women in leadership positions.
She stressed that women should be judged based on their abilities and capacities, rather than their family name or marital status.
The training also sought to encourage men to support women’s participation in leadership positions.
Adebisi noted that increasing women’s participation in governance is crucial for achieving a democracy that represents all members of society.
According to UN Women, women’s political participation is essential for gender equality and genuine democracy.
