WOSCONET Extends Gratitude to Distinguished Senator for Promoting Gender Balance in Governance

The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), a collective of Women-Led Civil Society Organizations in Enugu State, has extended hearty congratulations to the recently elected Distinguished Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone, Senator Osita Ngwu (RG).

WOSCONET members expressed their joy and optimism for the Senator’s upcoming tenure, emphasizing the importance of sterling performances and quality representation on behalf of the constituency in the National Assembly.

The network, which focuses on repositioning women and girls for social accountability and community development, has grown from a small group to a network of women initiating positive changes. WOSCONET leverages its multidisciplinary expertise to enhance women’s roles across various sectors, contributing to societal growth and development.

One of the network’s distinct qualities is its willingness to collaborate with government and its agencies to enhance good governance and the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This voluntary partnership seeks to deepen the gains of social development in Enugu State and beyond.

In a letter addressed to the Distinguished Senator, WOSCONET expressed deep gratitude for the appointments of Women Honourable Amaka Offor as Legislative Assistant on Mobilization and Civic Orientation for Enugu North LGA, and Paschaline Onyinye Okeke as Special Assistant to Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu for Sensitization and Mobilization in Awgu LGA. These appointments are seen as significant steps towards achieving gender balance in governance and representation.

The network also extended an invitation for partnership with the Senator in various areas, particularly in constituency projects and empowerment interventions targeting the improvement of women, children, and communities. The letter conveyed the network’s readiness to work collaboratively to deliver quality representation to the people of Enugu West Senatorial District and the state as a whole.

WOSCONET’s President, Ambassador Mrs. Amaka Nweke, the network’s Secretary, Lady Amaka Chiedozie, and Publicity Secretary, Faith Igumbor, jointly signed the letter, reinforcing the unity and purpose of the organization. The network eagerly awaits the Senator’s response as they continue to advocate for women’s empowerment, community development, and effective governance in Enugu State.
